Squeaking/Distorted sound from laptop speakers

Every now and again after starting / rebooting my laptop sound gets funny, speakers make sort of squeaking noise whenever playing something.
Like the TV back in the 80s/90s sort of thing - hard to explain.
Thing is, it goes away after couple of mins.
Driver issues? If so, how do I solve it?

Hi Midnite,

Just done a search and found this:

See if updating the BIOS using EZFlash solves the issue - I've recently updated the BIOS on my ASUS motherboard due to intermittent restarts.

I already had latest BIOS version going, 316.
I did update it once again but doubt it'll do anything.

You could try installing all ALSA packages, and create a 'Pulse Off' folder in '/etc' - you need to chown to root to open system folders and files in order to do that, then place Pulse folder into Pulse Off folder in etc. No guarantees.
