I dunno... I was going to game for a while because I am under a great deal of stress and needed to unwind.
Needless to say - that plan backfired.
Recently some posters mentioned on this forum that GoG has security issues.

One potential possibility,
The two that will not launch at this point used to offer to "Open with OpenGL". Now they do not offer that.
Both, Upon launching, give a popup window that says "Processing Vulkan Shaders"
Once that window closes, the launch crashes.
I disabled Pre-caching and Shaders and the only effect is no popup and the launch just immediately crashes.
I have removed and replaced most files in the ~.steam
directory.
All games are now launching Except for Astroneer. I also made a discovery that explains why my account had a $0.00 balance... It seems I created Two Aravisian accounts on Steam initially and during the troubleshooting, I signed in on the defunct one.
Now, signed in on the actual Aravisian account, my balances show normal and it is not limited.
Since only one game is not launching - this may be a developer issue, not a Steam issue. Looking it up, I find a lot of posts from users complaining of Astroneer not launching and they all have no solutions or dev responses.
I play it once in a blue moon, anyway.
I've also had my fair share of grievances with Steam and Proton, especially after I swapped my RTX 2060S for an RX 6800. Some would throw DirectX-related errors, some would crash with no exception data at all. After lots of troubleshooting, I figured out that my older games that wouldn't run on Proton 8 work perfectly fine when I switch them to Proton 7. So I assume it is because Proton 8 brought a lot of breaking changes to a lot of these older games that cause them to crash in such an obscure way.
You need to right click them > properties > compatibility and check the box to force the layer and select a proton version. Then the button will no longer be grayed out.
@Aravisian and @337harvey is it here I throw a "n00b" comment?
Does it come with pitchfork ? I would love to have one that says Artist on it.
I had to look up what it is...
I might try it out.
Today, Tomb Raider suddenly took it upon itself to decide to change its properties from Use compatibility layer with proton - to not use it. When I enabeld Proton, it said it needed to update Tomb Raider which I did.
Then when I launched it, it had lost all the save files, putting me back at the very beginning.
And Astroneer as back to mysteriously not launching at all.
Valheim lost six world saves.
All this time of Steam being reliable and solid seems to have come to an end. In the last two weeks, it has been extremely buggy and utterly unreliable.
