Hello, today i want to understand if there is a way to fix this issue, when i set the english language for some online games in steam, it always connects me as im located in North America, because those are international games i prefer to keep them in english language instead of my local language, but im located in Europe Italy, i have tried to look into the settings i have enabled location services and rebooted but no, steam still thinks im Located in North America, only if i set Italian then steam connects me to the right server already, but for some personal reasons i still prefer some online games to be in english, is there a way to fix this?
Just to confirm, when you change your language to english, how are you doing so? Also, is it every online game is connecting you to NA, or is it only certain games that do this? Depending on the game, some (most?) allow you to choose your region when you're trying to find online matches. So even though they may give you a default, you can usually change them to better suit your needs.
I go into the single game settings and change the language to english:
But then when i go into the game as you can see here:
it recommends me America, now in this game i can still chose to connect to the European server but in other games where there is no option to chose this and i have selected the english language i suppose it connects me directly to American server, causing me long times to find matches.
Does this happen for every game, or only some? I ask because this doesn't look like wrong geolocation to me--it looks like the game is skipping geolocation entirely and assigning your region based on your language setting. If that's the case, any work around would be different for each game, and may or may not exist.
I concur with @Locklear93 , this may be individual game preference. However, in your screenshot of this game, there's an option to select region right there. That's where you should be able to select your correct region and go from there. This happens to me in the rare times I do an online game, and usually manually select a better region (and I'm in North America)
It happens to every game where i selected the english language it sends me to the American server in games where i cant select it. I have the same settings also on steam in windows but there in games where i selected the english language sends me to the european server that is the correct one, i suppose because on linux steam games work trought proton probably its still does not translate the geolocation system used in windows and then the game tries to detect the position but fails then when i set the english language it simply sends me to the American server because its the very first choice for the english language, while the only way i have to be located in Europe is selecting my language or any other european language. Anyway if there is still a setting i can try in steam or in linux i would be happy to know.
