Stop upgrade to Pro

Hi All,

I was a Zorin 17 core user and was ready to upgrade to Pro yesterday. I brought the pro and then tried to use the 'upgrade' in Zorin instead of installing the system from scratch. However, for some reason (might be the slowness of my internet), the upgrade process still hasn't finished yet. It has been on for like 15 hours. I am pretty sure this won't work at all and would be a waste of time. I am now thinking about reinstalling the system completely with an external drive. Is there a way to stop the upgrade safely?

Best wishes
Aaron

Yes, that's a... very long time.
The is no safe way of interrupting the process.
The sources are overwritten early in the process and then the packages would be overwritten with the next releases versions. So if incomplete, it would be a conflicted mixed system.

It could be interrupted and recovered with a tedious method of rebooting into the shell, reasserting the previous sources, then adjusting all packages to match those sources. I wouldn't. That is hours of work when a fresh install is thirty minutes of mild work, at best.

Welcome to the Forum!

To stop it safely could be a Problem ... You could prepare a USB Stick with Zorin Pro on it to install it new and You have hopefully a BackUp from Your Data. And then, You could take the Risk to stop it.
