Stuck at Black Screen

Hello everyone. I am new here...

I have a Lenovo Yoga Pro 9
Intel Core Ultra 9 185H
64gb ram
2tb Crucial SSD
Nvidia RTX 4070 display adapter

I am trying to insalla zorin os 17.1 core to my laptop. Downloading from site, checking with hash, burning iso with etcher and secure boot/fast boot disabled.

I boot laptop from usb choosing i stall with nvidia support and hit enter. Then screen goes black without any cursor or written code/error on the screen. After waiting for a while caps lock and num lock keys' leds are starting to blink.

How can I proceed with that?

Thanks

Balena etcher… please flash with something else. Use rufus instead.

I couldn't get it to do anything with the nvidia option either, I had to hold the power button until it restarted and choose another option.

sorry forgot to mention that. I used rufus, windows 11 iso burner, iso to usb, ventoy and ubuntu iso writer...All had the same result. also tried different brand and size usb drives like sandisk, kingston, adata and lexar...

I tried every option on the install screen. regular install, safe graphic and nvidia. all the options stucked at black screen and blinking caps and num lock leds.

When the screen goes black try f11 or f12 to see if it logs anything.

Welcome to the Forum!

When you used Rufus: What Partition Sheme did You choose? GPT or MBR?

And You tried to install it without Nvidia Drivers, right?
Did You tried to install it offline without an Internet Connection?

Ok Ok problem solved with 17.2 update.

17.1 and previous versions were using kernel 6.5 and which does not support intel core ultra processors like elementary os 7.1 horus, pop os or any 6.5 kernel and 22.04 base.

Now I am using core 17.2 iso file with ventoy and installed already.

Thanks to the Zorin OS developers :v:

Pop! OS uses kernel 6.9.3 and is based on Ubuntu 22.04 like Zorin OS 17.x is.

No you are wrong man!

on page Zorin OS 17.2 Has Landed - Zorin , it says

rin OS 17.2 is now powered by the **same version of the Linux kernel as in the latest Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. It comes with updated drivers, bringing even better support for a wider range of hardware, such as:

  • Intel Core Ultra processors
  • AMD Zen 5 CPUs (including the newest Ryzen, Ryzen AI, and EPYC chips)
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20, 30, and 40 series graphics cards
  • Logitech peripherals
  • Various gamepads, including Nintendo Switch Online & Google Stadia controllers and the Lenovo Legion Go
  • Lenovo laptop keyboards, such as on the Lenovo V14, V15, and G14 AMN models

it was using kerne 6.5 and 22.04 base on 17.1 but on 17.2 it's upgraded to kernel 6.9 and base 24.04 like ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS

Zorin OS 17.2 is based on Ubuntu 22.04. However, it uses the same kernel as the current Ubuntu 24.04.

POP_OS is currently on the 6.9 kernel.

I'm on Pop OS and there it's indeed 6.9

No, no. Zorin 17.2 has the same Kernel like Ubuntu 24, NOT the Ubuntu 24 Base.

And Zorin 17.2 doesn't have the 6.9 Kernel. There was a Kernel Update and now it has Kernel 6.8.0-45:

Is your system stable with 560 driver ? Can you test if the screen get stuck at a black screen when you dont use your computer for 1-2 hour(s) ?

Stable and stable. I'm using alpha 1 of Cosmic DE :D.
There's no screensaver options to test it with, but only half of my games work with 560 driver. I had read similar problems of stability of driver 560 on PopOS facebook group.
