Hi, i'm using Zorin 17.2 pro and i noticed big stuttering in certain apps like discord and libreoffice. Is very noticeable compared to other apps (specially because i'm using a 144hz screen).
I had to install Goofcord as alternative to discord.
My pc specs:
CPU: amd ryzen 9 7900
GPU: nvidia rtx 3090
RAM: 32 gb ddr5
Screen: 4k 144hz (scaled at 200%)
GPU Drivers: NVIDIA-SMI 550.107.02 Driver Version: 550.107.02 CUDA Version: 12.4
OS: Zorin 17.2 Pro (packages updated)
Everything works fine including game engines, is just software like discord, libreoffice (i had the same problem some time ago with brave till recent app update) Sample video
Are you using Wayland or Xorg? What you've just described sounds EXACTLY like the problem I have with Nividia on Wayland. I've used Wayland on other distributions that push for newer versions and not had this problem, but I believe other users have mentioned that until Zorin moves to a newer version of GNOME, the only fix here is using Xorg.
right now x11.
wayland is just unusable with nvidia and have different problems like non stop stutter and sometimes buffer problems because previous frames are overlapped over the current one.
with libre office the problem was the default one which comes with zorin os and discord is the one which comes from the software store (from flathub repository), so i assume it came as a flatpack.
