Wayland Suspend Issue in Ubuntu

Wayland does not inherently prevent suspend in Ubuntu, but there are known issues with suspend functionality when using Wayland, particularly with NVIDIA graphics cards. Users have reported that their systems fail to suspend or resume correctly when running Wayland, especially with certain NVIDIA drivers. For example, some users have found that the NVIDIA driver version 515 installed via CUDA 11.7 does not support suspend properly, while downgrading to version 510 resolves the issue. Additionally, some users have had success by switching from Wayland to Xorg, which can be done by editing the configuration file to set WaylandEnable=false and rebooting the system.

In some cases, manually installing or linking specific systemd files, such as /lib/systemd/system/nvidia-*(hibernate, resume, suspend), /lib/systemd/system-sleep/nvidia, and /usr/bin/nvidia-sleep.sh, has been a workaround for the suspend issue. These files need to be correctly linked into the systemd file structure for suspend to work properly.

It’s important to note that these issues are often driver-specific and can vary depending on the version of Ubuntu and the NVIDIA driver in use. Users should check for the latest updates and driver versions to ensure compatibility and functionality with Wayland.

Does locking the screen work normally, without suspend?

And just to clarify, is the Wi-Fi issue related to this at all or is a separate issue?

@afdiazm Which Apple software were you running on that iMac before trying ZorinOS?

This is reason for the question: Suspend is not working - My PC doesn'r return

That came from websearch using "imac ubuntu 22.04 suspend"
