Synchronize contacts (and calendar) with nextcloud

I added nextcloud to online accounts. In the calendar I can see the nextcloud account in the settings, I added it to the calendar, but no event is synchronized, even after clicking “synchronize”. same with contacts. but nothing is synchronized. also, in contacts I can’t add another account or remove account.
any suggestions and fixes?

Have you checked all documentation?

I know- it is like asking “Did you check that it is plugged in…”
I looked up the installation how-to’s on the web and they all make it sound like it should work right out of the box.
