is it just me i havnt seen an update in awhile.. i see all the posts on update messed up this or that yet ive seen no updates...maybe its cause im on liquorix kernel?
If You get Updates depend what Packages are installed and what Software You are use. If You have Liquorix installed doesn't matter. You still get Kernel updates for the default Kernel.
yep i checked again at 11:45 my time cst here and there was 18 reg updates and 32 system updates guess they all hit at 1 time....lol
When this are the same Updates, I got these were some Graphics Driver Stuff and CUPS Updates.
I'm not on Zorin but use the Liquorix kernel. I had some issues the other day where the progress boot bar was sticking.
I looked at booting from an earlier version starting with 6.18 - could not find an OS. (Current is 7.12.x). So booted with 7.10. I then removed 6.18 via Synaptic, and 7.11. Because 7.10 worked I wondered if I should remove 7.12 - but if I did that it was going to remove the Liquorix kernel!
So, long story short, I suspect the issue was due to too many kernel versions present. Currently on 7.12 (PCLOS Debian).
You can simply look at the GRUB Menu what Boot Options You have in the Advanced Options.
a total newbie to Linux , does ZorinOS update it kernel automaticly ?
Asking because i read the kernel 7.1 came out and mine still on 6.17.0-35 generic
You can install the liquorix kernel in Zorin if you like. By default, you don’t get that kernel.
But it isn't signed, so you have to disable secure boot.
That is interesting. I believe I had the TPM firmware secure boot operational for Windows 10 Pro set to on with Windows Boot Manager and I could boot PCLOS Debian as primary boot after changing boot order in BIOS.
Zorin is a Distro based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and comes with that Kernel. And that is 6.17. It gets Updates for this but no continous Kernel Main Version Updates. IF you want that, You have to install a different Kernel like the Liquorix Kernel that @Forpli already mentioned.
Yes @Philippe I installed the liquorix kernel thats why i have those images installed been with it for around 4 months. very stabe kernel made for preformance and optimazation
