Tale of woe

Thanks - I didn't know if it was a real thing or shorthand so he didn't have to type a long path

What is this for? What goes in path/file? This is still awfully new terminology to me

I can't find this in the BIOS - which section would it be in if it's there? This computer is at least 10 years old

HivTombar, not ignoring you. Will get back to you later. To find out AHCI/RAID, look for any heading with SATA in it.

So, if you want to edit a configuration file you need to know where it lives. So using my tutorial on how to create a blacklist.conf file to get my soundblaster working I would use:

sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/sound.blacklist.conf

Looked through every entry for the second time -finally found it.

Yes - see below

"In my system, the root “/” folder is the SSD, but you can change the path to wherever the SSD is mounted. For example, if your home directory was where the SSD is stored, then you command would look like this;

sudo fstrim -v /home"

So what would the command be for my SSD drive? I put "/"? Where?

/home indicates it is a sub directory of '/'. So just enter '/' where you would put '/home'.
As I said earlier I don't use SSD's.
