I've been wondering what I could use in place of Task Manager! This installation of Zorin_OS 18.1 is driving me up the wall! It takes about 2 minutes from start up to get a browser open. When I click on something it can take 30 - 40 seconds to register and do anything, all the while the fans are whirring, the computer sounds so busy - too busy ... hold that thought!
So, while I was writing this post, I got this error (more or less): ... ...a problem occured and the system cannot recover. A reboot was forced, and a few minutes later I managed to get back to this message because Brave didn't shut down correctly and I could restore, getting back to the forum and this post. This is the type of thing that drove me from Windows in the first place, but at least then I had Task Manager and could stop whatever was hogging resources.
The annoying thing is, apart from switching from Wayland to Xorg (with hopes of speeding things up and making them smoother!), I've not made any changes. I mainly use this laptop to browse the internet and write text docs.
It took over a minute to type "about" and get the info to appear. I updated the system using the Software Manager and sudo apt update && upgrade commands.
