While trying to transfer material from my cellphone to my computer using a phone to laptop wired cable I keep getting this program called HonorSuite trying to run and blocking my cable .... HonorSuite is a M$ Windows apt and it wants to install using the below apt that I don't want to install I just want to delete it ......
You mean the icon in the menu? Take a look in /home/user/.local/share/applications, and the wine folder in applications. Sometimes things don't fully remove - like app links for menu entries. Also the Main Menu editor can make changes. Have to log out / in or reboot to see changes though, for either.
What happens is when I connect my phone with the cable and USB port an icon for the program pops up on my home screen and a message comes up that my phone can't connect to my laptop as I assume it wants me to download the Honor Suite apt to use in place of my cable .....
Where this even came from I have no idea ....
I check the locations you told me about but I don't have anything in applications named Honor Suite or a Wine Folder that I can find ...... I also just checked my phone again using a SD card reader just to be sure ..... nada .....
Ooooohhhhhh - gotcha! Yeah, my old Huawei device has some virtual CD drive that loads when it's plugged in, pops up with an installer to use - know exactly what you're talking about. I was able to find the installer on the phone - it was an autorun on the root of the device! But, even when I got rid of it, it came back.. like a plague it's definitely in the phone though. Is quite annoying as well. I just ignored it after transferring files and all; no worries
If it is a switch-mode driver trying to install from the phone after you've plugged it into USB:
Zorin menu > Settings > Removable Media side tab > select Never prompt or start programs on media insertion checkbox.
Thus, the auto-run app never runs.
If you can find that app on the phone, you can also delete those files and put whatever files you want... if you've got auto-run enabled (which we just disabled above), they'll run each time you plug the phone in.
Usually, the phone has a hidden partition that it switches to after you unplug... the next time you plug in, it auto-runs the files on that hidden partition, then switches to show your files on the phone. Find that hidden partition and you can change it however you like to do what you want.
