Hello Zorin OS Team and Community,
I have encountered a consistent visual rendering bug (artifact) in the default Terminal application while performing system updates. I would like to report it so it can be investigated.
Bug Description:
When running an update command (such as sudo apt upgrade), the dynamic progress bar/percentage text (colored in orange/yellow) duplicates itself if the Terminal window is maximized or resized during the download/installation process.
For example, if the progress is at 67% and I click the maximize button, the "67%" line freezes and stays printed on the screen as a visual ghosting artifact. Meanwhile, a new line is created right below it to correctly resume displaying the progress (68%, 69%, etc.). The system updates perfectly fine in the background, but the UI terminal output creates messy duplicate lines.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open the default Terminal.
- Run
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade(with pending updates). - Wait until the colored progress lines appear showing percentages.
- Click the "Maximize" window button or manually resize the window.
- Notice that the old progress line freezes, and a duplicate active line appears below it.
System Specifications (Verified via terminal):
- OS: Zorin OS 18.1 (64-bit)
- Windowing System: X11
- Kernel version: Linux 7.0.0-28-generic
- Hardware Vendor: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
- Hardware Model: X555QA
- Firmware Version: X555QA.325
