Hi everyone,
I'm a new Zorin OS Pro user and really happy to have made the switch from Windows 10! However, I’m facing one issue: despite adjusting font sizes both in Zorin’s settings and in Chrome (like Google's own font settings), I still get text that looks like this:
Meanwhile, the rest of Zorin’s UI appears quite small:
I know it’s possible to use fractional scaling (between 100% and 200%), but when I enable it, everything looks blurry and out of focus.
Here are my system specs:
8 GB RAM
AMD Ryzen 5 2500U
Vega 8 integrated graphics
14" Huawei laptop
I'd really like to optimize both system and Chrome appearance, especially because Chrome (and even this forum) look "off" — text size causes UI elements to behave weirdly (e.g. dialog boxes cut off text or buttons, and I can’t even see the “Create Topic” button unless I go full screen).
Perhaps you could set a different display resolution and look if that helps.
You can also take a look at settings>accessibility to adapt the text size.
When You go to Zorin Appearance or alternatively to gnome-tweaks: How are the Fonts set up? And for gnome-tweaks: Is there a higher Scaling Factor for the Font set up?
I've tried "large text" in the accessibility setting and it does indeed help but loads of menu on websites like Zorin forum appear all cramped up in chrome. Any idea ?
If you use Chrome as flatpak, this can cause the problem. Did you try if the problem also persists with a browser that is installed as Zorin(.deb)-package, e.g. brave, firefox or chrome? Is it better then?
Or you can go to the settings of your chrome browser and change zoom factor and/or font size.
When you want that the system settings are applied in flatpak chrome browser, you can install flatseal and then in software flatseal allow chrome access to users files. But I am not sure if this helps in your case.
Go into the software store and search for google chrome. Then you can see which one shows "installed". If it is the flatpak there is displayed something like flatpak or flathub.
Or you enter "flatpak list" in terminal then you get a list with all installed flatpaks.
You can install google chrome as .deb package this way:
If you want to do this, please remove the installed version first.
When You have installed the Browser from the Software Store, it should be the Flatpak (or Snap) Version because the .deb Version isn't in the Repo.
When You have downloaded it from the Google Download Page then it is the .deb Version.
If You not sure, You can check it like @Forpli already described. To offer for this an additional Way: Open Chrome and go to the ''About'' Option. There You should see the Version Number and the Package Format.
