That needs to be extracted, like a .zip or .rar file.
en:users:drivers:iwlwifi [Linux Wireless] <-- I found this as well, that's a pretty clean guide to install.
You should be able to right click that .tgz file and then click Extract Here
and it will create a folder called iwlwifi-ty-59.601f3a66.0
- in there should be the *.ucode to copy over to /lib/firmware
.
Once you're in the new folder created from extracting the .tgz, right click and open a terminal, then issue sudo cp iwlwifi-*.ucode /lib/firmware/
, enter your user password, and that should be installed; then reboot.
no change still 2,5ghz
yes, i reboot system
i find and replace file iwlwifi-QuZ-a0-jf-b0-59.ucode
still 2,5ghz
think I may have found something..
7260, 3160, 7265, 7265D, 3165 and 3168 support
Those devices will not be supported by the newest firmware versions: the last firmware that was released for 3160, 7260 and 7265 is -17.ucode. Bug fixes will be ported to -17.ucode. 7265D, 3165 and 3168's latest firmware version is -29.ucode. In order to determine if your 7265 device is a 'D' version, you can check the dmesg output.
^^^^^
Reading through last night - got side tracked with a soldering job - from your first output you appear to have a 7260; looked right over that.. but in that same article I posted from Intel..
iwlwifi - Debian Wiki <-- this seems to have a different approach, but you'll have to remove the current drivers you just loaded. BUT - the 7260 series needs a -17.ucode or -29.ucode driver, older - according to the intel site.. Was going off the 1675 chip posted, heh..
What is your HW driver ID when you issue lspci
should look like: Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0bda:d723 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. 802.11n WLAN Adapter
except, my WiFi is internal, but registered as a USB device Oh, Realtek.. But you should see something like
PCI: 8086:08B1 Intel Corporation Wireless 7260 PCI: 8086:08B2 Intel Corporation Wireless 7260
on the beginning after the PCI:.
Bare in mind - after reading a LOT of others attempts, 5GHz just did not work for some..
