I originally wanted to use Xfce as a lot of folks like it and after playing around with it for a week I got kind of comfortable using it .... BUT .... thinks kinda went south when I discovered that when viewing emails ..... this board ..... and other websites that the fonts varied greatly ..... I'm using Brave Browser and have adjusted the viewing settings numerous times but nothing sees to work .....
The texts just keep getting bigger for the small ones .... OK .... but then the ones that were alright are now huge .... there is no happy medium ..... so I am now back on Cinnamon .... by the way everything works just fine here ....
I tried to install Cinnamon on Zorin Pro Lite but when I tried the terminal read already installed ..... so I assume it meant on Zorin 16.3 Pro which is where I originally installed Cinnamon .....
I can stay here on Cinnamon no problem but I would like to use Zorin Pro Lite with Cinnamon DE ..... instead of Xfce ....
What will happen when Zorin 17 Pro or Pro Lite comes along will I have the same problem ????? .... not being able to use Cinnamon on them as well .....
Do I have to remove Cinnamon completely and then install it on Zorin Pro Lite ???? .... will this mean that all my customization and settings for Cinnamon will be lost and I need to start all over again ???? ....
OK ..... problem solved ..... when you can't get your head around something because you are hard headed ya got's to try something your self ..... so
I deleted Cinnamon completely checked it in the log in menu and it was gone ..... yup it was gone ..... then I opened Zorin Pro Lite and installed Cinnamon from there ..... and yup it was there ...... I clicked on Cinnamon in the log in menu and it opened in Cinnamon ..... thus proofing that my reasoning was flawed .....
What do ask did I think something was wrong ..... simple we have .....
Gnome on Xorg
Zorin Desktop on Wayland
Zorin OS lite Session
And then there is plain ol' Cinnamon at the top because of alphabetical order ..... I guess I was expecting to see Zorin Pro Lite turn from Xfce to Cinnamon like Zorin 16.3 Pro turned from Gnome to Cinnamon ..... or something like that .....
I wanted to use the lighter version of Zorn to run Cinnamon ..... I guess it would have been better to just wipe my HD clean and only install Zorin Pro light and then install Cinnamon on top of it ......
Make sense ... probably not ....
Anyway I want to thank Aravisian for his patience and to those who tried to follow my ramblings sorry ....
Using Zorin Lite or Zorin Core to run Cinnamon will not make a difference. The "lightness" depends on the desktop being used. So if you are using Cinnamon, it will run with the Cinnamon footprint. XFCE nor Gnome are loaded - Cinnamon is.
