Too much fan noise after suspend on Zorin 18

I have Zorin 18 and after I suspend and I turn on the laptop there's too much fan noise, and the only solution to solve fan issue is to restart which is bad.

I tried to use nividia-driver-580 instead of using xorg-video-nouveau but it became worse.
I downgraded linux-firmware and it didn't work either.
ChatGPT gave me some solutions and I created some files and put codes there but it didn't work.

I am not sure if there is any fix, that's why I'm asking here. I hope someone can help me.

Could You post Your Hardware Specs? Did You checked Your BIOS for Fan Settings? Maybe they offer a Silent Profile or You can set up manually a Fan Curve.

    • Current driver: None (nouveau module available but not loaded)
    • Tried: nouveau (default) and nvidia-driver-580 (made worse)

I did not have this problem with zorin 17 lite version. I guess the problem is not BIOS or fan settings.

Are you on Xorg or Wayland? Try to switch to Xorg. Logout and at login click on your username then a cog wheal appears at the bottom right corner. There select "Zorin Desktop on Xorg".

have you tried disabling the cpu turbo boost either via the BIOS or you can install a gnome extension
frequency boost switch

you may also need to install the extension manager (Zorin OS Package) from the the software store.

and then try the system and see if the fan noise is reduced.

Thanks. It didn't work. I tried xfce desktop that I had installed which didn't work either.

Thank you. If I'm not mistaken I installed it and an icon appeared next to the clock on the right corner named "GHz Boost" I turned off cpu boost using that option but it didn't work.

Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled? Is Fast start-Up in Windows disabled?

you have 2 Graphics Units: Maybe it would help to disable one.

Wow, thanks a million! Your solution worked perfectly.
I just went into BIOS and switched the display setting from Discrete to UMA, effectively disabling the NVIDIA graphics.
The fan is so much quieter now!
