I have just started using my Starlabs Starlight convertable which I received yesterday and am working through getting it up and running properly.
When i received it the camera did not work so I installed camera and i now can get grainy images from the main camera but nothing from the forward facing camera.
The active pen that I ordered with it creates a mouse pointer when hovered over the screen but does not do anything much else.
The screen is touch sensitive... sort of.... but frequently unresponsive to multiple taps etc.
Can anyone please advise where I should look to start rectifying these issues?
So you just purchased this? If so, in your shoes I would actually contact star labs and inquire about it, because something that they offer out of the box (as you can purchase with Zorin installed), everything should work out of the box.
Having something not work immediately in a way when you purchased it would make me want to contact the company that I bought it from, personally. It could be a simple fix or a hardware issue, I don't know at this point. But getting initial contact started is a good idea in case a return is needed.
I agree, the benefit of purchasing from companies that ship Linux out of the box is that they provide support for it, just like with any other product. The issues that you're describing can be attributed to drivers (I can't say for sure, though) and since it's a device made by this company, they'll know better than anyone how to work with them.
A simple thing to Test is: checking if it runs in Wayland of Xorg Mode and switch and check if it runs better. To check, go to Settings>About and look for a Line called ''Window Manager'' or ''Display Manager'' or similar. Look if there stands Wayland or X11.
to switch, go to the Login Screen (not the Lock Screen). Simply reboot for that. On the Login Screen click on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. It has to be appeared. when it is appeared, You should see in the bottom right corner a Gear Icon. Click on it and You should have 2 Options:
- Zorin Desktop
- Zorin Desktop on Xorg
By default the first one (this is the Wayland Option) should be active. You can see what's active on the Dot at the Beginning on an entry. To switch, simply click on ther other and then log in and check if it runs better.
