Trouble printing pdf and photos on my new printer

Hello, I have bought a Brother MFCJ1012DW inkjet and I'm having trouble printing .pdf files and photos.
My system is Zorin OS 16 64bit.
I'm hoping someone may have some ideas on simple things to try.

Did you download the driver package from the brother website ?

I have found issues printing online PDFs which end up printing out as 3" x 2". The solution is to download the PDF first.
