Hello,
Just purchased Zorin pro and installed put the live USB on the thumb drive.
I have placed a new SSD drive (2TB) in my laptop and reset all the security stuff.
However I am getting the gub boot menu.
Any idea what I need to do to actually boot into Zorin on the thumb drive so that I can install it?
Thanks.
Welcome to the forum!
When you made the USB, what program did you use to make the live USB? In addition, when you say you get the "grub boot menu" what exactly do you mean? There should be a selection of a few options on the live usb, if that's what you're referring to. If not, if you could take a picture of what grub menu you're talking about so we can see, that would definitely help.
Hello!
I used Balena Etcher to create the USB boot device from the Pro image (ISO).
I should have been more precise with my language.
It is a grub prompt. It looks something like this:
GNU GRUB version 2.06
Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.
grub>_
Any idea how to proceed from here?
So, You put the USB Stick in Your PC and start from it and then You get this? Or have You already installed Zorin?
Yes, I put the USB stick in my PC and start it and then I get the prompt shown above.
I have not installed Zorin yet.
This is not a 100% fresh / clean SSD. I thought it was, but I was mistaken.
I think the SSD has grub installed on it so I am going to completely reformat it and try again. I will report back here shortly.
BUT if you know a faster/better way to get this going I am ALL EARS!!!
Thanks.
Well, that is maybe a good Idea when there is some kind of GRUB on it.
Other Things:
Did You checked the Checksum of Your ISO?
Did You tried it with another Tool to create a bootable USB Stick?
Did You controled if Your BIOS runs in UEFI Mode or Legacy?
I removed all the partitions and retried and it worked!
The live USB is loading as we speak.
Thanks for the time and I apologize for any unneeded noise.
