Ubuntu base vs Debian base

Hey everyone. Since linux Mint has just made a debian based version, cutting out Ubuntu, I'm starting to wonder what exactly ubuntu brings to the table. I'm not a programmer or anything, I don't know the ins and outs of ubuntu but just curious, if Zorin removed themselves from Ubuntu and used debian as the base what would we be missing from it?

Also I know ubuntu is based on debian, I'm specifically just asking about what ubuntu adds to Zorin. ^^
