"Ubuntu boot failed" on a fresh installation of Zorin 17.2

I'm a bit lost on what to do. The system is an older Atom based tablet / laptop combo, that normally runs Windows 10.

I can boot fine into the Zorin live environment, and installation is smooth too. No errors. I've tried Zorin 17.2 Core and Lite, but same result

I'm not dual booting. During setup i chose to erase the disk completely. I've also tried to use gparted to manually remove all partitions on the single disk the system has.

But after installation completes I'm just met with a blue box saying "Ubuntu boot failed". I guess the system is using EFI to boot. Secure boot is disabled.

Any suggestions ?

Welcome to the Forum!

A couple of Questions:

Did You checked the Checksum of Your ISO?

What for a Program did You used for creating the bootable USB Stick?
You wrote that Secure Boot is disabled. Is Fast Boot disabled, too?
Does Your BIOS run in Legacy Mode or UEFI? Depending on that it could be important which Partition Sheme You used for the USB Boot Stick.
Did You tried it with Boot Repair in the Live Mode?

I wonder if there is a more general issue with Atom based systems and Ubuntu 22.04 based distro's. See:
