Description of problem:
I am not able to charge my device whatsoever with Zorin OS installed. I know that it is not issue with the battery or the charger as an installation of Windows 10/11 let's my laptop charge with no issues at all. My battery is detected by Zorin OS and does show the tray icon but it just doesn't seem to charge.
Additionally, the orange light on the side of my laptop to show that the battery is charging does not light up under Zorin OS.
So do you have the latest BIOS installed? If so, take a look at the solutions on that askubutu thread to see if any solutions offered there help you. Zorin is built on Uubntu, or rather it is a fork of Ubuntu.
I can confirm that I have the same issue.
HP 255 G6
The machine charges just fine while turned off but does not while running. This is not an issue when Windows is installed. Can't say I've ever stumbled across this issue before on any laptop in the years I've used Ubuntu (all the way from 6.06) and all of its derivatives/forks....not to mention any other Linux distro, so this is new to me.
Short of trying "Disable Built-in Battery" in BIOS, I've tried all suggestions I've seen related to this.
I've had Core installed before on this particular machine and I don't recall this being an issue. However, I've had Windows for a year on it for testing/support purposes so it's been a little since I ran Zorin so things may have changed across all versions since then.
I can seemingly charge it fully (or near it) while it's off. The indicator in Zorin (Xfce) states it's 98% charged when I booted it up. And when I plug in the power, the led lights up on the computer, but nothing happens in Zorin. It's like I didn't plug the power in at all.
