I have Zorin OS Pro 16.3 and I tried installing Espanso and it wouldn't launch and then I just installed Riseup VPN and that doesn't launch.
The same thing happens which is a flash of what I think is the terminal and it's gone.
What is my next step in order to find it, launch it, use it?
How did you install Riseup VPN?
I typed the name in the software catalog search bar and it came up. I then installed it and launched it when it was done.
Can you please Look at the source in Software Store and see if it is Snap, Flatpak or Zorin Repository supplied?
snapcraft. Is that what you were asking for?
Yes, thanks.
Here is the troubleshooting page for RiseVPN including Snap Installed versions.
This said - I would first recommend removing the snap using Software store and testing the APT version with a .deb package:
https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/amd64/riseup-vpn/download
See if it launches and behaves normally. The Snap Versions can be blocked due to their Sandboxed Nature.
Well it appears even the look of the whole store is not normal now. I don't like where this is going and I think I'll look into using the alternative Synaptic. I have installed that. I'll have to read up on it. I did see at the StackExchange website and they're instructions to go back to version 15.10 of The Software Store for a stable version.
First I'll read up on the RiseUp on Ubuntu Issues article and then read up on the alternative software repository Synaptic. Because now I have two installs doing the same thing, flashing the terminal and doing nothing.
Yes, and it is true that I focused only on your last attempted VPN software, rather than both.
I agree wholeheartedly about using Synaptic Package Manager.
