Hello Aravisian thanks for your endeavor. I will try to remove the mouse, to see how the touchpad reacts. However did some experiments myself as well.
tried a live usb from Fedora 31, problem disappeared.
tried a live usb from Linux Mint xfce edition, problem seemed to have disappeared, but i'm not 100% sure
installed Linux Mint xfce edition and problems appeared again, but not with as aggressive behavior, have to check the mouse settings as you outlined above (the timing settings)
Could it be, that mouse/touchpad driver and / or window manager is responsible for this? How is the driver configuration established in Zorin OS Lite?
