Hi. I am having a problem with an unknown login out of the blue. I have tried every login & password I have used recently but nothing works. This is not a login/password I set up, it just appeared. I have tried making sure the bios is set correctly to never ask for a password but nothing changed. I am using a Dell Latitude with Zorin 17. Here is a pic of the login request:
Welcome to the Forum!
Is there only shown this or is there an Error Message or an Explanation Text?
Note that the first part of the login prompt does not assume your username has already been filled out for you. It's the name of the computer, which is typically generated when you create your first account. Based on that, I assume that your username is actually "paulaj", so try:
paulaj-Latitude-3380 login: paulaj
Password: *********
A couple other things to consider:
- Enter your username exactly as it is, with lower and uppercase letters as they appear normally i.e: PaulaJ, paulaJ, PAULAJ, etc.
- Check the keyboard layout. If you have changed this and are using special characters like "@", these may have shifted positions because of it.

Also check if Caps Lock is on.

Also after you have entered your credentials you will still be in a tty terminal. To get to the desktop, if using xorg:
startx
If you are using Wayland:
mutter &
WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0 gnome-terminal
Or
wayland-1
Or
XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland gnome-session --session=wayland
