hello. i get attached message, and have 30 gb available storage. why can't i upgrade, and how do i fix? thanks in advance.

From what I can gather, this is saying that you don't have enough disk space on your boot partition most likely, not your actual root / home partition. If you can open up something like say gparted or disks, and show the results from there (I prefer gparted, but either works), and share a screenshot, that would help in seeing exactly what it's saying.
Most likely you'll have to expand your boot partition, but just want to make sure that that's definitely what's going on here first.

In your first photo in the background is an application called disks. That's more what I was looking for, just to get an overview of what's going on with your partitions.
Either that or gparted should give us a decent look.
