Update Kernel (2)

How to update kernal

The kernel is updated with the normal system updates.
If you need a later kernel you can install one with the mainline installer tool or install the liquorix kernel.
Note: As they are not signed, you need to disable secure boot.

currently kernel is in version 6. something but kernal 7. has released

Yes, but Zorin is a LTS distribution. It doesn't have the latest kernels by default. If you want to have the latest kernels and the latest software, use a distribution with a rolling release or e.g. ubuntu 26.04.

Does your hardware need the kernel version 7?

I would second what @Aravisian is saying. If everything is working as intended and nothing is broken, I would highly recommend just staying on the default kernel. The potential "performance" differences you may see are going to be negligible in the vast majority of cases.

Yes, because Zorin is based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS - and that has this Kernel. If You should concerned because of the behind Version Number: Ubuntu supports the Kernel with Security Updates and Bugfixes. But only that. No new Main Version. With Point Releasen can come newer Versions but it can still be behind.

Or if you still want 7 then install Liquorix kernel. I don'e use Zorin anymore, my daily driver comes with Liquorix kernel so I did not have to install it to replace an existing one.
