Update to Zorin OS 17.2 Core [Now with official Zorin Announcement]

I completely agree. I keep a bowl full of salt at the desk for when I'm watching any video with more than a few thousand views, or reading from one of the popular sites... I usually just scroll down past it and go straight to the comments. More often than not, that's where the real news are.

Mmm, I don't think is that big a reason to bother them. At least, I'm willing to give the internaut bloggers another chance and see what comes out of it. Otherwise, well, that's why the forum is here

I doubt it, neofetch is basically a shells script (~10K lines of code though...) that queries the system using default system utilities. As long as the system is up-to-date it'll be fine.

I have decided to go ahead and bother them...

I am one of those that just skimmed and saw 24.04 thinking that the base was 24.04. But having seen enough references to jammy I started questioning that and reread the text for the "fine print". Either way, the system is "good enough for me". I use flatpak for anything I want to ensure keeps up to date, I presume that the devs will keep the kernel fresh enough to avoid major security issues, and who doesnt want a base that is stable.

I've been waiting to see if I would get the update at some point. I was using a mirror in Germany. However, I'm still on 17.1.

Today I changed my updater to "Main server" and still no updates to 17.2. Any tips on how I can get it?

What stands in Settings>About ?

17.1 also

Hmm ... open the Terminal and type sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade and post the Output here please.

Is it possible that the updated is not released to everyone right away?

At the Beginning, yes. But at this time now, it should be everywhere I would think. and when you set the Source to Main Server, you should definetely get it.

Your Package List looks good so far for me. You have a lot of unneeded Packages what you could remove but I wouldn't think that this is the Reason. You could try a sudo apt dist-upgrade

dist-upgrade didn't work either.

Hmm, I will wait a while longer and if it doesn't update I'll do a new install.

Thanks for the help!

Hey there,

I have the same problem as @OliGee
Everything is up to date according to apt, yet I am still on 17.1

What exactly is the trigger to change the version in /etc/os-release? Could you solve the problem @OliGee? I really would like to avoid a new install for a minor release.

sudo apt dist-upgrade didn't solve the problem either

Kind regards

First I would suggest to change the Sources to Main Server in Software & Updates:

The make a sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade to check if You can update.

Thanks for your reply
I did change the Sources to the main server and did sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade again - but without any changes, still says there are 0 updates available and I am still on 17.1

Hmm ... and when You make a sudo apt dist-upgrade?

It also says no updates available

Did you have Zorin 17.1 fresh installed or do You have that a longer Time?
