Update to ZorinOS?

With the release of the 7.0 kernel and 26.04 LTS, will ZorinOS address these new updates soon?

I don't think so, they just made Zorin OS 18 based on Ubuntu 24.04 (Released: Apr 2024)

I feel like they might because kernel 7.0 has way better support for something like haptic trackpads, which is preventing someone like me from installing ZorinOS on my HP Omen.

but they will not

 sonnnn

You could install the Kernel when it is released when You need it by Yourself. You could use the Ubuntu Mainline Tool or use the Liquorix Kernel. Here You can find Instructions:

New Zorin OS distro's tend to happen once every 2 to 3 years. Point releases happen usually within a years time of release, those are the versions you see past the decimal, like 16.3 for example.

@Ponce-De-Leon Thank you for this info. As I mentioned in another thread, my first installation of Z18 Core allowed me to register fingerprints, an update (I don't know which one) stopped me registering but kept the already-registered prints, and now after a clean installation I have lost all prints and can't register any. I'm guessing that this might be kernel-related? If so, is there a risk (or benefit) to trying kernel 7.0? I have several Rescuezilla images so I can easily recover from disaster.
Thanks for any advice.

Well, I would not recomment the 7.0 Kernel yet because it doesn't have a final Release. I've heard that the higher RC Canditates should be relatively stable but I would wait for a final Release. But this is only my Point of View.

Because of the Fingerprints: Here, I must say that I don't know if and when how much a Kernel Change would affect that. I think it should run after a Kernel Switch, too. When You think about Kernel Updates. There the safed Fingerprints aren't deleted, too.
