I'm using the digital S/PDIF optical output to my hifi.
Interestingly, if i plug headphones into the line-out, I can hear the music playing. The Volume control still says Digital Output S/PDIF is the port, is that a red herring? Have ports become mismapped somehow?
So, You use this as active Output, yes? When You click on the Dropdown Menu, what Options do You have? And when You go to the Configuration Tab what do You get there?
Highlighted one is selected, was the Duplex mode above.
Tried most of the others, S/PDIF optical out is no longer working, unless my hifi died at exactly the same time I did the kernel upgrade. Will see if I can find another device with an optical in to test it, but obviously highly unlikely
You could boot in the older Kernel to check if it works then. To do that, choose on Start-Up on the GRUB Menu ''Advanced Options'' and choose there the older Kernel. When logged in check if the Audio works again.
The audio works in neither. I haven't verified that it isn'y my HiFi, but it's surely not because the audio worked until the second i rebooted after being offered the 6.18 kernel, which I installed!
Am I going crazy?
Either way, what are my next steps to resolve this?
I've tried all the audio output configuration options and none work.
I'm having the same issue I just upgraded audio was working fine in 17 then went to the latest Zorin 18, and the audio is not working the system is picking up the sound but nothing is coming from the computer same for headphones.
Does secure boot is off in your BIOS ?
Does Your system run in Wayland or X11? You can check that with the Command echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
And please when you have a problem create a topic and give us more infos about your system...
