I would think that it was related to the Computer.
Well that was a bust .... apparently I can't use the Asus BIOS download using EZ Flash .... tried 2 times and each time I got this reply .....
So I thought I better quit while I was ahead ..... after all 3 strikes and your out ....
Again thanks to everyone for all your help .... the laptop is 5 years old and they haven't updated the BIOS since 6/30/2021
Maybe it doesn't like the File because the File Ending isn't there?

Here is how I tried to update the BIOS in photos .... quality of some is rather poor but I had to take them with my cell phone ..... you know shaky hands and all that good stuff ..... LOL ....
USB is formatted in FAT 32 as required .... many solutions suggest this ..... the most suggested cure is shut down Secure Boot .... mine is disconnected permanently .... I don't dual boot with Windows only Mint and Zorin ....
Does anyone have any other suggestions before I just give up and ignore any updates to my Asus BIOS .....
I might add that in the video I posted above he shows 2 different versions of the BIOS .... the 1st is for windows and the 2nd is for use with any other OS ..... my down load just showed the one I used ..... could it be that Asus just did away with the non-Windows version ????? .....
Did you extract this .zip zipped file? You need to.

You putted the .zip File on the USB Stick; that will not work. You have to take the File in the .zip Archive and You have to put that on the USB Stick.

I tried to explain this ... but I guess not very clearly .... that I did extract the file but it doesn't have a file extension and I can't find a program to further extract this file .... if that makes any sense .....
Do I just load this extraction on my Flash Drive with no file extension and try it ???? ....
Just to clarify all the different apts I've used to try and extract this zip file all come back with the same results which you see on the left of the zip file ....
Yes, exactly. But take this File and put it on the USB Stick.
Now when I see that right ... there is a File Ending. The File is called G731GT-AS.308 - so there is a .308 File Ending.
Anyways, take the File, put it on the USB Stick and go in the BIOS and use it.

OMG ..... so that was really the file extension all along ..... thank you for figuring that out .... it worked perfectly .....
And a big thank you to all who contributed to this thread .... I know working with me is like pulling teeth but in all fairness at 80 my mind ain't what it used to be ..... LOL .....

Congrats, your bios update went well. Your 80? I always assumed you were a teen. Were all a child at heart though. I dont know what happened to your frog avatar though, i always thought it was cute.

To be fair: How AUS handles the Filenames here is in my Opinion not the best when they include the File Ending in the Filename of the .zip File.
