Updating System Components Without Upgrading to Zorin 18

Good evening!

I'm very new to Zorin (from Windows 10) and have a simple question: I have gotten several software updater notifications over the past week or so which says the following:

Security Updates > System Components
Other Updates > Brave Web Browser
> Upgrade Zorin OS
> System Components

Since I don't want to upgrade to Zorin 18 until there's an easy direct upgrade option available (they said it would be several weeks), I have avoided updating in any way. Is it actually okay for me to upgrade the "system components" without it accidentally trying to upgrade to Z18? Are the system components in the updater this time around specifically for version 18 that it's also offering? Or are the system components in this update strictly for v17, meaning they're safe to install?

Thank you!
Scott

You can update everything without worry. There will never be an update to Zorin 18 without your explicit consent.

Yes. As @Forpli said, the Zorin Upgrader tool is not ever run without your knowledge or consent - including that running it requires you to make confirmations along the way.

What you see here:

is for the Zorin Upgrader tool itself - not a method of Upgrading the Release of Zorin OS.

So as long as I don't hit the "upgrade Zorin OS" everything will be fine and it'll only update components for the present version. Got it!

Thank you for the information!
