I currently have Zorin 15.3 lite and need to upgrade, do I need to install Zorin 16 lite before I can upgrade to the newest Lite versions. Can I do that without losing my files ?
I would definitely be backing up your files regardless. It seems wisest also to do a clean install. I'm not an expert, though.

Yes, you must upgrade to 16, you cannot jump directly from 15 to 17. Or to 18.
Using the upgrader should present no danger to personal files.
But installed software that is not available on Zorin OS later releases.
Coming from 15, that is very possible. You should remove or disable all third party repositories prior to running the upgrader.
I agree, heavily. Upgrading to 16, then 17, then finally to 18 all in one go sounds like a risky nightmare.

Could I clone my 15.2 System using Rescuzilla and transfer that to Version 18 to retain all my files and photos, I have 468 GB os storage remaining onm y 500GB hard drive.
