USB drive not working 18.1

My USB drive worked fine in Zorin 17.0. It would pop up a message.
I upgraded to 18.1 and I cannot access the drive. There is also no notification.

First you need to know that zorin 18 core is based on ubuntu 24.04 and so Gnome 46 who removed notifications for USB plugged devices (don't ask me why nobody know... or maybe because they are lazy...)
Second, launch Disks app and watch if you see you device

When You open the File Manager is there the USB Stick listed on the left Side? Also: When the Stick is plugged in, You should see in the Taskbar a little Triangle Indicator.

It does not show up in disks

Nothing shows up in file manager. I'm thinking of going back to 17.

Not caused just by 18.1: all my USB drives are working fine under 18.1 so problem lies elsewhere.

What file system do you have on the disks?

Just to add. if a USB is not showing up, it could have died. Just like SSD's, thumb drives and SD Cards don't last forever.

If you plug the drive into a different USB port, does it change anything?

If you plug in a different USB stick does it change anything?

Just because something is working on your machine, does not invalidate that it is not working on anothers. Many things work fine on my machine, but I seem members posting it not working on theirs.

@dfranzen, I would suggest testing USB reads and function on a LiveUSB of Zorin OS 18 and 17 to narrow this down.

When the USB Stick is plugged in, do You see this in the Taskbar:

And: How is the USB Stick formatted?

Thank you for all the suggestions. The drives are now working. My update from Zorin 18 to 18.1 had been interrupted when my wifi dropped. It seems that the following day's updates resolved the issue,
