My 19" Viewsonic is correctly recognised by Display settings on Zorin Core 17.1. It has two options for refresh - 60hz and 70hz. I set at 70hz but when I tap the keyboard or move the mouse the power led goes from yellow (standby) to slow flashing green with no display. If I wait 30 seconds it goes back to yellow then move the mouse or tap keyboard sometimes I get the login screen. I am testing at 60hz to see if the driver is setting an unusable refresh instead of 70hz. It is connected by DVI-D. Any ideas?
Are you sure it supports 70hz?
My monitor in Zorin does not allow changing the frequency, it stays at 60hz.
In another distro, it allows me to change to 75hz, but when I change the colors are not displayed correctly.
Another point is that I believe that DVI-D does not support above 70Hz in certain resolutions.
In short, it could just be the driver that allows you to change the frequency when it shouldn't.
Well it supports 70hz on the desktop as keep settings comes up and it looks ok and confirmed by the information dialog on the monitor. But having said that I have had no problems waking the monitor at 60hz.
At the risk of jumping the gun looks like setting the refresh to 60hz is the solution. No more log in probs.
