Virtualbox 6.1.50 doesn´t open VM's under Zorin 17.3 Core

I have been using Virtualbox for some time.
The main reason for that was because I had to use software that isn´t supported by Linux. So I installed VirtualBox around april 2024 and created a Windows 10 Virtual Machine. Everthing just worked fine for me.

But after starting VB some days ago, VB reported a fatal error.
I am not completely sure what the exact reason is.
Is VB the reason for the fatal error or maybe Zorin 17.3 Core?
Furthermore I don't know how to solve the problem...

Any help is appreciated.

Kind regards,
André

Do You get a specific Error Message? If yes, could You post it here please?

Did You tried the Version that comes directly from the Developer?

Pay Attention to use for Zorin 17 the Ubuntu 22.04 Version.

I will check the specific errormessage.
I used the internal Zorin reposistory.

In the meantime I installed VirtualBox 7.2 on a Windowsmachine, sorry;-)
I had no problem importing the existing Virtual Image.
VB opened the image and started without any problem.

Can it be that Zorin 17.3 has issues with VB?

Regards,
André

Maybe it is more the Version of VB. That was the Reason why I suggested to take the current one to check if it works better.

Thanks for responding.

The version of VB could indeed be the reason for the error.
But: why dit it work with without any problem for many months?
Could the upgrade from Zorin 17.2 to 17.3 be the reason?

Vbox logfile:
Vbox.log

Unfortunately VB 7.x is not in the Zorin Repository..
I wil try to install VB7 manually.

André

I wouldn't think, but maybe it brings an updated Dependency or something like that what it don't like ...

Yes, it isn't. That is the Reason why I have linked it above. It is directly from the Developer. But as I already wrote above: Choose the Version for Ubuntu 22.04 for Zorin 17.

Yes, that seems quite possible. Take a look at this thread:

I converted the Vbox image to an Qcow2 image.
Installed KVM/Qemu and imported the image.
Everthing worked without any problem.
Happy with KVM/Qemu:-)
