They are tested that they work well on ubuntu 22.04. And this LTS version of ubuntu where Zorin is based on was released some years ago. You can install a newer version with a snap package or flatpak but they sometimes make problems on the system because they are sandboxed and not integrated.

The old version is available as per the Jammy repository. I use flatpak VLC to get the latest version, no issues at all.
In fairness, if the OP wants a newer version and isn't opposed to flatpaks, it may be worth trying--the OBS official flatpak works better on Zorin than the .deb. I do recommend using .deb packages installed by APT broadly, but know your options. A program I consider critical for my own use is extremely out of date in the software store, including missing security fixes and hardware support.
