Wacom one touch, touch functionality not working

Hi, extremely new to linux (zorin 18 core), coming from win10, so thanks in advance for your patience. My brand new wacom one touch is not recognising my fingers. Spent maybe 15 hrs trying to fix it myself but I didnt really make any progress. Once while using krita to test it did recognise my fingers and moved and rotated the canvas, though it was extremely laggy and quickly stopped recognising them. I havent been able to replicate that. Occasionally when i try to use the touch it will lag krita and sometimes crash it but touching wont effect anything on screen anymore.
Additionally i noticed that in zorins settings the listed device is "wacom one pen display 13", where it should be 'with touch' or touch or something.
When I initially assumed this was a driver issue I at some point entered "$ lsusb | grep Wacom"
and got
"Bus 005 Device 002: ID 056a:03ca Wacom Co., Ltd Wacom One 13 touch HUB
Bus 005 Device 003: ID 056a:03cb Wacom Co., Ltd Wacom One pen display 13.3" with touch"
So i know the system can see the right model.

i have no idea how to properly diagnose or fix whatever is going on.

Welcome to the Forum!

Does Your System run in Wayland or X11? You can check that with the Terminal Command echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

It starts up as Wayland but I can log out and login as X11. As far as I can tell the graph tab behaves the same with both. Additionally, I should mention I'm not glued to zorin and would migrate to a different distro if it has a better chance of working.

You noted the devices are recognized above.
Are they seen by libinput?
In terminal, paste:

libinput list-devices | grep -A20 Wacom

Check if the device is registered:

ls /dev/input/by-id | grep -i wacom

Check for events:

dmesg | grep -i wacom

And check if the USB port is resetting:

dmesg | grep -i usb

The output of each might look like gibberish - you can copy paste the output in this thread using the no parse tags on the post toolbar that looks like </>
for analysis.

You could Double-Check if it behaves the same on a different Distro like Linux Mint. Or try a more upto-date distro like Fedora. Maybe it offers better Support.

If You want try on Zorin: What Graphics Card do You have? If Nvidia, what Driver do You use?

I usually elevate first... then run the commands (This was banged into my head testing on Kali Linux).

So all of that suggests nothing is wrong. THe next question is Mapping.

I dont quite get why it's only bundled with the main monitor? is that what '1920x1080+3440+0' means? At any rate trying to map it like I have has yeilded no discernible change.

Yes, these show touch disabled.

Try:

xinput set-prop 15 "Wacom Enable Touch" 1

Entered <xinput set-prop 15 "Wacom Enable Touch" 1> and also did <xinput set-prop 15 "Wacom Enable Touch Gesture" 1>. Tested between each one and confirmed they were enabled with <xinput list-props 15>.

Didn't seem to change the tablets behaviour with either enabling, so I restarted my computer just in case. Checked again now and wacom enable touch is still enabled but gesture is no longer. But the tablet seems to be registering touches more often, possibly consistently. Though it's very delayed and slow, seemingly getting stuck as if my finger never left the screen and periodically moves my mouse back to where I touched it minutes ago. It seems to be the behaviour its had since before making any changes albeit... faster.

Can you run

sudo libinput debug-events

Then begin touch events and watch if the events appear immediately in the terminal or of they are delayed as events in the terminal.

Seems to get to a point where it freezes entirely and stops sending any inputs. Then using the stylus will be delayed but its inputs start coming through after just a few seconds.

What that suggests is that the problem is happening early - before the compositor, and we know the kernel is good.
So, first suspect is USB.

Have you tested different ports?
Or disabled USB Powersave?
