Wayland or x11

I have just installed 17.2 and as a result of my GPU being a bit older (gt 730) I am using x11 because the legacy Nvidia driver doesn't support Wayland. I am not losing anything or getting a subpar performance by using x11 am I? I could use the Nouveau driver for Wayland, but my assumption is that the performance is inferior compared to the Nvidia driver. Is that correct?

I would say with a Nvidia Card, You should use X11. On Wayland it could give too much trouble and Performance Issues. But that is only my Opinion. Wiat for other Users and there Opinion's to that.

You might see a big difference, or you might not notice a thing... unfortunately, it's not easy to tell for sure. It really depends on the hardware and your specific use case.

I've seen people complaining about X11 where others complained about Wayland.
Some complained about performance with games and other graphic intensive tasks, while others complained about simple window animations.
Sometimes it was only specific programs, like remote desktop sharing or even down to the specific browser (usually, Chromium-based) or only when loading videos, and so on.

It would really help if you could share your experience using both options.
