I also feel it important to note, in normal times when there are no server outages, make absolutely sure, you have updates set to "Main Server," in Software & Updates.

I've been having similar issues - and my resolve has been in the Software and Updates app to update everything except for these:
They are the only things which won't update - although unlike the issue faced by the OP, in the case of my system, it's not installing some Zorin Exec Guard which is weird.
I get the 'Check your internet connection' error message, (despite it connecting) - and I tried changing the 'signed by' to see if this would work. It didn't, so I reverted the changes in terminal.
Now I've also got a StarFighter laptop with Zorin installed, and I'm getting more or less the same issue.
I also tried sudo apt upgrade && sudo apt update and the error message no longer displays, so I'll see how I get on for now...
Oh my gosh, thats so cool, that is a powerhouse of a notebook! You can play a lot of high end games with that, nice!

Hi StarTreker. I answered this question in another thread. I always believed that Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu was South African, as it is funded by the Billionaire Mark Shuttleworth, not to mention the name of the OS which is Zulu for "I am because you are".
I was corrected by a new forum member recently, Canonical is based in the UK and Iran has deemed the UK to be an enemy of the Iran state for allowing US military aircraft to use UK airbases to launch its attacks. So I suspect that any UK company will be fair game to the Iranian state sponsored hackers, not just Ubuntu/Canonical.
I can't on mine because I got the middle of the road version with an Intel Graphics Card, which seems to have issues with Vulkan Shaders. My Home PC has NVDIA 3060Ti which until today was okay with running anything - for some reason Steam has become very laggy today.
I assumed you'd have a dedicated GPU, if you bought a Starfighter notebook, which is SL top shelf notebook. Yeah, only having an integrated Intel GPU, greatly limits your gaming options.
Steam is always laggy for me as well, I assume it has something to do with all the stuff they display on the app all at once, that has internet connection. Steam used to be slimmer, and just a launcher for games, now its a full suite of stuff, where they advertise games to you as well, it typically runs slow.
My biggest issue, is when a game updates, and suddenly disables itself from launching, or requiring a different proton version all the sudden. As long as you can launch a game, and it plays fine, thats the main thing.
