So i am trying zorin out on a xps m1530 probbably 15 year old laptop screen works correctly just the home screen is wierd what may be the cause.
Does the start screen always look like this or only directly after starting, so that it may not have loaded properly yet?
Try to switch to Xorg.
Logout and at login click on your profile then a cog wheal appears at the bottom right. There select "Zorin Desktop on Xorg". Then login with your password.
Are secure boot and fast boot in your BIOS disabled and if you have Dualboot with Windows, is also fast startup disabled there?
