I wish I knew what actual program is asking for all these dependencies so we could just put them all in at once.

sudo apt install appmenu-gtk2-module

Since you have installed multiple desktops and performed many experiments; that may be the cause of some of this.
I would like to double-check at some point, though.

Almost afraid to ask but how do we do that as this looks like a mess .....

I did a full Rescuezilla back up so maybe we should just delete everything except Zorin Lite and just go with Zorin Lite Pro after all I really don't need all these other desktops and such loaded ....

Or would that be to much trouble ??????

I do not know lol...I have no idea what all you have done with that poor machine...:stuck_out_tongue:
Or how many packages the upgrader is still missing.

I meant checking the upgrader itself. You wouldn't need to be involved in that.
I just want to know if this is a common enough issue that other members might have this "falling down a rabbit hole" experience or if it is due to your Frankenstein Setup.

I think that would be a good choice as we installed Zorin Lite with no problems ...... it didn't ask for any of that stuff ..... I can also continue to load these programs into Lite Pro myself as I kinda know what to do now ..... if I run into a problem I'll holler .... no need in you having to tell me to upload these apts ....

Do I still have to update and upgrade each download ????? ....

Either way take a break I'll continue when I have time ...... no rush I have Lite to use anyway ..... Pro is no big deal at least to go through this much trouble .....

Might be something for people who have customized their machines and want to switch to another version of Zorin using the Upgrader to do so ..... just my thoughts .....

A big thank you for all your work today I know it is a pain ..... :+1:

No, you should not need to.
I only meant to do that the first time. I had copy/pasted part of my reply from previous. Sorry about that.

If that is the case, did you tweak your main desktop much? (I’m assuming xfce).

I mean it might be cleaner to backup your home directory, install Zorin Lite pro and restore just home, than going back to a previous state and upgrading.

But that’s just my preference. I have two laptops. An old one from 2009, and my current laptop from 2018. The old one (running Linux Mint) has been upgraded for years and this works because I didn’t mess around with it. For the newer one I generally experiment and as such I feel it’s safer to do a clean install than upgrade.

I know this isn’t quite helping you upgrade, but it might be a last resort without losing too much time.

Not a problem .... I got to thinking I've been on Zorin for almost 2 years now and I made a lot of changes during that time ..... I've deleted a lot of programs originally loaded on Zorin 16 Pro during that time and also downloaded tons of stuff .... apts etc. ......

To have to set everything back to stock with Gnome .... Cinnamon .... Xfce .... and even tried KDE ...... but that is why I went to Zorin to begin with .....

OMG and with all the customization you've done over the years but you were still able to add Lite Pro to your entourage of desktops .... changes and such .....

Anyway ..... I'll take a beak for a bit to clear my head and think about it ..... would it be the same when Zorin 17 comes out ????? ..... would I still need to download all these apts that are missing to get it to run ?????? ...... it boogles the mind ..... :sunglasses:

Actually I have several Zorin OS's loaded and 3 different desktops ...... but I've made no changes to Zorin Lite running Xfce which I just downloaded and installed a few days ago .....

I still have Zorin 16.3 Pro running Cinnamon on this drive that was my daily driver until I started using Lite and I just wanted to try Zorin Lite Pro to see how it was ......

I use Rescuezilla to do my back-ups and just did a picture of the complete drive before I started trying to install Lite Pro ......

Thank you for your suggestion I'll keep it in mind while I mull this all over ..... :+1:

OMG ..... if this ain't something more on this tomorrow

BUT IT SAYS ZORIN PRO LITE IS INSTALLED

Finally I will never forget the command .... sudo apt install .....

Bye to tomorrow ..... :weary:  :confounded: :sob:
