I got to thinking about this, after putting Zorin on all three of my main systems. I love the fact that there are many layouts to choose from (although I honestly don't use most of them). I got to wondering - it'd be nice if the layouts had a text description next to what it was. I'm left guessing, and I'd rather know what the layout I'm applying is.
If a text description isn't doable, how about a tooltip?
At the very least, descriptive names would be nice. More than once I've had to identify the layout I use by describing which column and position it's in in the Zorin Appearance UI.
In older versions of Zorin the different themes were labelled, I don't know why they stopped doing it. I have given descriptions in the Unofficial Manual for Core. The top left is in Windows 7 style with opened apps previewing that are on the panel. Top right I call Win2k appearance as open apps are shown as labels with the name just like Win2k did. The bottom left is what I call Pantheon appearance (think Elementary OS).The bottom right is Gnome.
WELL then, I am using the Windows 2K theme. How apropos, as I'm 1,000 years old.
Thank you Swarf!
I’m all for adding text, though I know nobody’s taking votes.
I couldn't agree more!
Yep, I've been around the Zorin OS block for awhile, they used to have layout descriptions indeed. I don't have a clue why the Zorin team stopped doing those, but its just confusing now. They really should bring back layout descriptions.
