I'd like to add SpeechNote to my startup apps. I see I can add startup apps via stacer, but I'd need to know what command line to use.
Thanks, all
Do You have installed it as Flatpak? If yes, open the Terminal and type flatpak list
to list all installed Flatpaks for listing the exact Name of it.
To start it in the Command Line, You have to type in:
flatpak run [Name]
For [Name]
put in the Name in the Output List.
Can you widen the terminal window? Just pull a side like resizing any window and run the command again. As long as the window is wide enough when the command is run, it'll show the whole thing.
After making the Terminal wider, You have to use the flatpak list
Command again.
Yes, I see. I thought I could just widen the window after running the command, and it would expand like a file explorer.
Anyway, attached.
In the meantime, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I then looked at the Stacer auto-start apps screen, and it is listed as active, yet the app does not start. Still must manually start.
Thank you.
When Stacer doesn't help, You could try it with the System own Startup Applicaions Program. As an alternative to that, you could try Ignition, too. It is available in Gnome Software as Flatpak. It is a Tool for set up Startup Applications.
Ignition and Stacer show SpeechNote as enabled as a startup program. Either way, the app must be manually opened to be used.
What is your command at autostart to run the program? Can you please take a screenshot of the launcher-properties?
flatpak run net.mkiol.SpeechNote
Do you have an icon on your desktop? When you right click on it, can you mark it as executable/run as program?
Perhaps you need some more permissions for this program because it is a flatpak. You can install flatseal to manage the permissions and grant file access.
Here is the command that Stacer shows me:
dsnote --file-forwarding net.mkiol.SpeechNote @@ %F @@
Here is what "flatpak run net.mkiol.SpeechNote" produces:
rich@Zorin:~$ flatpak run net.mkiol.SpeechNote
Gtk-Message: 17:43:43.679: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
Gtk-Message: 17:43:43.680: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
qt.qpa.qgnomeplatform: Could not find color scheme ""
Qt: Session management error: Could not open network socket
rich@Zorin:~$
Never figured this out.
With Buzz, perhaps a better option, I also have the same issue. I do not know what command line I could use to have it start at boot.
Or you could search the .desktop file of speechnote and copy it into ~/.config/autostart.
You can find it here
/var/lib/flatpak or ~/.local/share/flatpak
