I have been using Zorin for a few years and enjoy it much.. But with many of the changes that are happening with in the Linux Distro's I am narrowing what system I want to support, I have on one comuter Mint lmde do to the fact they do not use Ubuntu and that brings me to my concern with Zorin I would hope they would move away from Ubuntu as well the woke distro's have started to ruin the Linux experience. As well as the age verification junk that is coming down to most distro's .. I hope Zorin does not follow that path as I like many other really enjoy the OS.... Anyway thats my 2 cents 11
Have a great day !!
I think the OP is valid user feedback and worthy of being moved to "Feedback" section, which I will do.
Yes I have longed for Zorin to move to Debian or even Devuan like Sonic DE which is the new birth of KDE Light. They still have a long way to go though.
My bigger priority would be a predictable migration path, regardless of which base Zorin uses. Changing the base can disrupt third-party repositories, drivers, and support instructions. Preserving settings and clearly flagging incompatible packages before an upgrade would make the process far less painful for everyday users.
Your post contradicts itself.
Most distributions these days, regardless of what distribution they are a fork of or what DE they use prevents installing third party repositories (PPA's) to prevent security issues or general system inconsistencies due to library dependencies.
The driver claim is false as drivers live in the Linux kernel present in all distributions. The only drivers that would need reinstalling would be (where needed) proprietary printer and scanner drivers from specific manufacturer websites like Brother, Canon and Epson.
