I forgot, but Vivaldi just recently put proton vpn in their browser as an option. I wonder if it was trying to connect when you've recently updated it and that brought that icon for you?
That was a good thought on your part. But no. I did think of it, too, and the Proton VPN extension was already removed by myself then. I did double-check. Thanks.
