Where does Evolution store data?

I am migrating from Windows after decades away from Linux. I have a lot to learn! In Windows I could easily find and backup my Outlook .pst files, but in Zorin, using Evolution, I cannot find where the data files are. Can anyone help please? Once I find the Evolution data files can I (as with Outlook .pst files) just copy and restore the data files?

Moved from Guides to General forum.

Did you check by using the file manager and press CTRL + H ?

~/.local/share/evolution for user data (so all locally stored email should be here);

~/.config/evolution for configuration settings (account parameters);

~/.cache/evolution for cached files (including temporarily downloaded IMAP emails).

Alternatively you can also do a backup within the application

Evolution menu > File > Back up Evolution Data.

By looking at the backup you might see this location as well ~/.var/app/org.gnome.Evolution

You can back it up by copying that folder, but make sure Evolution is closed while you do it. Restoring is as simple as replacing the folder on a new system.

OK! Thank you. I think I get it and have found the location of the files now. I did figure out how to do a backup and restore as well but I am happier knowing where the files live and how I can get to them if needs be.
Looking at the folder structure I am guessing that the calendar data is stored in files in the calendar folder the
mail in the mail folder etc. so backing up and restoring really is the way to go as there is no direct equivalent of the .pst file for Evolution?
