I cant even use Nemo or Nautilus without freezing frequently,etc. Ever since I tried to install the media columns in both.
Dolphin has got cool advantages. But pdf files dont show thumbnail image,
also it cant “open file with” option, I cant open a pdf with GIMP for example, which all other file managers i can; and mp4's and mkv's dont show thumbnail images. Also the search function doesnt work at all.
I also use Dolphin and it works great in MX KDE version. I can search and the best feature for me is being able to quickly open a second pane so that I can easily move or copy files from one place to another. The poor file manager program on Zorin is one of the main reasons I left Zorin.
@macfly, Thanks
Noteworthily, Ctrl+ L works by default for Nemo, Nautilus, Thunar and Dolphin. And copying a folder will also copy the file path too for all these too. Maybe they didnt do all this in older version.
It has been a while since I left Zorin but I believe it was nemo. I move and copy files pretty often. When I opened nemo using the icon in the task bar it opened fine. But since it only had one pane I of course needed to open it again if I wanted to drag a file to another location. However if i clicked the icon again nothing happened except the original open pane just blinked. I had to go the computer icon on the desktop and click on it to open a second pane for copying or moving files. Very inconvenient. I had used Dolphin before and really like the dual pane function. So I found a distro that had Dolphin. In Dolphin if I have both panes open I can right click on a file and it will give me the option to copy or move it to the other pane without me even having to drag the file to the other pane. And it gives me the option to open the file with another program instead of the default program. I love Dolphin.
Yes, this may be a small thing, but I use it a lot in my workflow. To copy the path of a folder if you are already in the folder, you have to use Ctrl + L, then Ctrl + C. Or go back to a previous folder and copy the folder inside it. In Dolphin, just click on the location bar and copy.
