Then you would have to choose a rolling release distribution or a non-LTS distribution instead. Zorin is a LTS distribution and because of this the packages are older ones.
It's because Zorin is based on LTS version of Ubuntu (which is is based on Debian). They take a snapshot of it and make it ultra stable, bug fixing etc.
If you want updated apps, go to tthe software store and get the flatpak version of x z y apps.
I feel the users pain, I really do, cause I am in the same situation. There can be new versions of APPS, like OPENRGB, but due to being on OS 16 out of support, buts also nature of an LTS release, ya can't get the updated APPS in the repo.
I know a possible solution, is to just install OS 18, but with the huge mess of issues, and the upgrader not even being fully ready, I refuse to take the risk. So, with that said, I will deal with the lack of updated APPS issue, until I am satisfied, that OS18, is no longer a nightmare.
